About us – Redstone Building Services

Redstone Building Services is a growing commercial Mechanical & Electrical installation company with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. 

Being a Yorkshire & Greater Manchester based company we cover the north of England with local teams in both regions. We have a very friendly and hard-working pro-active attitude towards our business. This runs through everything we do, how we represent both ourselves and the clients we work with. The work we do is always to the highest standard as expected form our stakeholders.

We are professional, diligent and always looking for opportunities to ensure we work smarter to save you time and money. We provide the latest in installation and product technology available to the market to ensure not only that all regulations are met but also that it is extremely aesthetically satisfying and most cost-effective for all of our clients.

We have completed a wide range of different installs. These have varied from offices (new build and refurbishments), extra care facilities, education, medical, and leisure schemes ranging values from £50k – £800k.

How we work

Our installs start with a consultation to discuss the project requirements and develop a working relationship with our new or existing clients from the word go.

From there, our design and estimating teams will produce costs and drawings to make sure all criteria is met. When work commences our friendly and dedicated engineers will provide a highly professional level of work throughout the project followed with a comprehensive testing and commissioning process, to make sure you have everything you need to take your project to the next level.

Our management team

Ian Pattinson

After 25 years in the industry, initially starting out as an apprentice engineer in 1995 then working for leading electrical sub contractors and achieving IOSH qualifications in H&S, Ian founded Redstone in June 2019. His vision was to create a company that’s focuses on delivery, professionalism and customer satisfaction.

Ian has been a Director since 2016 and has obtained a wide skill-set that covers M&E design, project management, programming, procurement, estimating, operations and finance. Although his time is mainly spent running the business he remains hands-on project managing major commissions for key customers

The sectors that Ian specialises in include industrial, waste to energy, food manufacturing, EV charging, commercial, education and healthcare ranging from £50k - £1.5m M&E value

As if he doesn’t have enough on his plate, Ian is a Trustee of Homeless Hampers, a charity that’s provides food, clothes and beds for the homeless throughout Leeds & Bradford and he is an Executive committee member of Burley Trojans Football club in Ilkley supporting the clubs various teams and coaching grass routes football.

Tim Whiting

Tim’s career spans over 25 years in the industry. From qualifying as an Engineer 1997 to working his way up from site management to contracts manager and becoming a Director in 2012 for his family business, a successful mechanical contracting business.

He joined Redstone in October 2021 as a Director adding Mechanical to the Electrical service offering to form what is now Redstone Building Services.

Tim has worked across most building sectors covering healthcare, education, extra care, leisure, production and residential, managing various mechanical contracts up to £1.3m.

Tim is responsible for managing the mechanical side of the business, however he remains hands-on as contracts manager and he is responsible for labour management, procurement, estimating and key account management.

Being a avid car enthusiast, he spends most weekends (and spare cash!) at the track with his son Fin competing at national level karting across the UK.

Ben Barker

Our Director Ben leads the Electrical Installation side of the business managing a team of on-site Electricians. He is also responsible for training and developing our Electrical apprentices

Ben started out in 2014 as an apprentice himself and has rapidly developed his skills and experiences. He has gained qualifications in City & Guilds 2391 inspection and testing and holds a JIB Gold Card. Over the years Ben has gaining valuable experience across multiple building types such as commercial, leisure, residential, education, industrial, food manufacturing and waste to energy. Working on Electrical packages of work up to £0.5m

Outside of work you can generally find Ben in the stalls at Bradford City AFC, watching them at away games or entertaining Clients on the golf course. Although after recently starting a family Ben is finding it increasingly difficult to keep his scratch handicap in tact!
